PRIMARY PE AND SPORTS IMPACT STATEMENT 2016/2017

The PE and Sports Premium vision is for ‘all pupils leaving primary school to be physically literate and with the knowledge, skills and motivation necessary for a healthy lifestyle and lifelong participation in physical activity and sport.

Tree Tops sensory integration therapists.

PMLD and Complex pupils

TreeTops have worked with reception children to produce sensory profiles, sensory diet and daily motor programs.  Therapists have given teachers whole class morning routine and demonstration lessons. Changes in pupil’s behaviour have been noted already.             

Staff have worked 1-1 with Tree Tops therapists to implement plans, which will be passed on and used in their new classes.

Staff have attended Change4life training, bought PE equipment and identified target children through playground observations. Staff have commented how much enjoyment children are getting from these small group sessions and that all the children have increased their physical activity levels, confidence and PE

All children have been involved in a wide range of sports including climbing, archery, clubbercise, cheerleading, hula hooping, boxing, athletics, cycling.

Change4life groups will continue and grow in size. Observations have been completed for more children to join in Sep17 and more staff will attend Change4life training when it is offered.

Through Sports Week we have been offered Archery sessions for Sep 17 and students have been put in touch with a local archery club.

Increased confidence, knowledge and skills of all teaching staff in teaching PE and sport.

 

Rebound therapy trainer course ran by reboundtherapy.org

3 members of staff

Staff have learned how to teach rebound to non-ambulant, ambulant and sld pupils. Now a distance-learning module consisting of 4 case studies and a presentation will be completed by October 17. Staff will then be able to train other staff at Priory Woods School.

3 members of staff will be qualified to train other staff who work at Priory Woods School in Rebound Therapy.

Broader experience of a range of sports and activities offered to all pupils.

All Students

Children from Reception to Year 6 have taken part in weekly Yoga Bugs sessions. They have been assessed Using Yoga Bugs Performance Review Impact and Change Programme in the following areas – social, emotional, physical, behavioural and PSHE. All students have made between 1 and 4 progress points.

 

Pupils from Year2 to Year6 have worked towards their Gymnastics Level 2 and Level 3 awards.  14 students achieved Level 2 and 8 students achieved Level 3 awards. Students performed their routines for parents and at Sports Week Assembly.

Staff have been upskilled through attending Yoga Bugs sessions and now use ideas from sessions in their own lessons.

 

 

 

Staff attend these sessions and use their knowledge in their own PE lessons.

July 17 - Tees Valley Primary Panathlon – bronze medal winners

6th June 2017 North England Panathlon Final at Ponds Forge Sheffield. We came 7th we are invited to represent the North of England in a Swimming Panathlon in London 17/18.

After such a successful year, we intend to attend all Inclusive School Sports Offered next year.

 

Close links have been made with Ash Trees School and dates are in place for further inter school competition.
