We are an all age (4-19) special school in Middlesbrough and we work with children and young people with a range of learning difficulties, including Severe Learning Difficulties, Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties, and Complex Learning Difficulties and Disabilities.

Specialist Teaching Assistant – Level 3 – Cover support

Head teacher: Miss E Fox
Scale points: Grade G points 12 to 15
Actual Salary: £22,642 to £24,315 (actual salary)
Hours:                35 hours per week, term time only plus one week
Contractual status:    Permanent

We currently have a vacancy for a Level 3 Specialist Teaching Assistant to support with absence cover in school.

If you are a suitably qualified, highly motivated, creative with high aspirations for all learners, we would like to hear from you.

The successful applicant must have:

  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Excellent organisational skills
  • A good understanding of special educational needs
  • Understanding of child development and learning processes
  • The ability to work with learners from four to nineteen and with a range of abilities

MIDDAY SUPERVISORY ASSISTANT

The Role

We are seeking a compassionate and patient Midday Supervisory Assistant to play a crucial role in our students' daily experience. This position is about more than supervision – it's about creating a safe, supportive, and enjoyable midday environment for our wonderful students.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure the safety and well-being of students during lunchtime
  • Support students with their social interactions and play
  • Assist with mealtimes, helping students who may need additional support
  • Promote positive behaviour and resolve minor conflicts sensitively
  • Work closely with teaching and other support staff to maintain a consistent, supportive approach
  • Help create an inclusive and welcoming atmosphere
